Alaska Salmon
Like the fruit harvest in Washington, the salmon harvest in Alaska places workers in close proximity at work and in employee dorms. Both harvests in the summer of 2020 had major outbreaks of COVID-19, threatening workers' lives and food security for the rest of us. Compounding this situation were wildfires in California and Oregon that inundated the Central, Napa and Willamette valleys with smoke.
