Big Boom
According to Global Energy Monitor, methane--the main ingredient of natural gas--is a more potent greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide, with about 30 times the warming effect. As reported at the National Observer, the idea that natural gas is a solution for climate change is a fallacy.
The international boom in liquefied natural gas exports is led by the US and Canada, where "the increase in natural gas is driven largely by the North American fracking boom, which changed the industry about 11 years ago." In the US alone, the Obama administration opened up millions of acres of federal land to fracking.
