Way-Back Machine
In 2014, Ratical republished my CounterPunch article Netwar in the Big Apple--with art.
Here is a quote from Wall St. vs the Indigenous Peoples Movement:
In many respects, Klein and McKibben are like the church missionaries that initially helped subdue the Indigenous Peoples of Canada and the US. Instead of the religion of Christianity, however, they proselytize on behalf of the faith in corporate philanthropy, all the while posing as pious champions of the environment, colonized and downtrodden. This is psychological warfare at its most repugnant.

Fundamentally Insane
OK, Trump is a sociopath, but impeachment? You’ve got to be kidding. Trade a playboy sociopath for a Christian fundamentalist psychopath? Get a grip — do not propel Vice President Pence into the Oval Office.

Us vs Them
As Wall Street consolidates its power over the people of the United States, the EPA is aggressively attacking the rights of local communities to have any say over the regulation or permitting of polluting industries. A corporate plan that both Bill Gates and Donald Trump support.

Rehab of Fascism
Progressive support for the nuclear-powered Green New Deal reminds us how easy it is to hijack a social movement in the society of the spectacle. As noted at Dissident Voice, "the Green New Deal is the fig leaf that provides material for this manufacturing of a new fascist narrative. The green fascism of these new ‘products’ from the Democratic Party laboratories is pretty much in line with what Bill Clinton ushered in and what Obama sort of perfected." As John Steppling remarks,
The same fingerprints are always found. The Gates Foundation, 350.org, the US state department and an assortment of varied NGOs of the moment.

Climate of Fear
As the Mayor of Los Angeles said in his letter to HUD Secretary Ben Carson, the proposal to deny public housing to immigrant families "isn't about smart immigration policy, public safety, or fiscal responsibility. It's goal is to spark fear in immigrant households."
Of the public housing residents and Section 8 program beneficiaries affected by the proposed HUD rule change, 95% are people of color, and half are children. 25,000 families across the country--37% of them in California--could lose their housing, even if all but one family member are legal residents.
Currently, they receive less aid to take into account the mixed status of the family members. The new HUD proposal would throw them all on the street.

Re-electing Trump
Americans re-elected Nixon, Reagan, and Bush, so why wouldn't they re-elect Trump? With the DNC backing a loser (Biden), it is entirely possible. Which raises the question of the purpose of the presidency, that some argue is to keep democracy down.

Big Boom
According to Global Energy Monitor, methane--the main ingredient of natural gas--is a more potent greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide, with about 30 times the warming effect. As reported at the National Observer, the idea that natural gas is a solution for climate change is a fallacy.
The international boom in liquefied natural gas exports is led by the US and Canada, where "the increase in natural gas is driven largely by the North American fracking boom, which changed the industry about 11 years ago." In the US alone, the Obama administration opened up millions of acres of federal land to fracking.
