The United States Attorney General is the head of the U.S. Department of Justice, that sets legal policy in the areas of environmental enforcement, anti-trust enforcement, and civil rights. In law enforcement alone, the attorney general is the head of three
separate agencies, each of them with sweeping powers—the Federal Bureau
of Investigation, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and the Bureau of
Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms Enforcement.

As Attorney General of Alabama and U.S. Senator, Sessions fought against racial equality, women's rights, due process for immigrants, and voting rights.
