Avaaz was incorporated in 2006 by the Democratic Party front group MoveOn as the Global Engagement and Organizing Fund to build U.S. influence in the Middle East. A major funder of Avaaz, MoveOn and HRW is George Soros, convicted hedge fund inside-trader.
