Legitimizing Theft
The Global Indigenous Youth Caucus, presenting at the UN Permanent Forum
on Indigenous Issues recently, made a case against the UN World Intellectual Property Organization as a monopolistic manifestation of piracy. As Gale Courey Toensing reports at Indian Country Today,
one of WIPOs main functions is to legitimize theft of Indigenous
Peoples genetic resources and traditional knowledge by transnational
corporations.
